Politicians are a bad thing, but just get elected to the most trivial post, and you realize, unless you are a monomaniacal nutter, that any decision needs to take some account of everyone's opinion. Then you are buttimilated into the political system. What really amuses me is people who get elected on one platform, then are generally moved to a completely different one. A local politician went for election last time on an anti-corruption ticket, now at the end of his term as (Minister-for-introducing-new-laws) is promoting a bill for enhancing politician's privacy.
