That's 4.9MB of modules, where are you getting 47MB?

Based on some of the code that escaped into the wild, not paranoid enough ;) (And yes, I know that in the eyes of the LSG...

I compile as much as possible as modules. For instance, I only need my ieee1394 stuff when I'm doing my twice-a-month backups to an external hard drive. I also rarely use my scanner, so I don't need that compiled in. Ditto for having to read disks from my digital video recorder.

So I have: * ALSA & OSS support for my nasty old soundblaster sound card. * USB support, including my USB keys, scanner and smartmedia card reader. * AGP-DRM-TDFXFB modules to support my Voodoo III graphics card with some modicum of acceleration. * FAT-VFAT, ISO, Samba & UDF filesystems for my DVD-RAM drive, so I can read what my digital video recorder writes. The VFAT stuff pulls in a lot of NLS support. * HWMON-I2C stuff to read the fan, temperature, etc sensors on my motherboard. * IEEE1394 to support the firewire external drives I use for backups. * 3C509 & 3C59X to support the network cards I have. * SCSI layer to support some of the USB-IEEE1394 mbutt storage stuff.

Of course. It takes years and a lot of learning to be paranoid perfect. Nope. They washed but only knew how to clean using spit baths. One thing...

That's it. Filesystem stuff is 1.4M and sound is another MB. After that it's 1-4mb here, 1-4mb there.
