Sure. But it vastly more true about MS.

Back in the good old days, when computer suppliers actually cared about the customer more than the bottom line, if you had trouble you could call for support, and someone actually showed up and fixed the damn thing.

How often does MS acknowledge a bug or fix it before some other party presents an exploit for it? Hell, one time I tried to report a bug to MS, and they wanted me to pay to tell them about it. I didn't care about getting it fixed as I had already found a workaround. But the only way to talk to support was to call a 900 number or give them a CC number. Fat Chance.

Another item: In the early 90's I had purchased a software product from MS. The support terms were if you paid for the phone call, they would help you resolve the problem. Shortly after windows 95 came out, that changed. Now, I would have to pay for support on a product that CAME with free support. No way. That's about when I decided to never buy much of anything from MS again.
