Of course, sometimes they get stupid with it.

I remember not being able to leave KAPL with an embedded system because it might store information. It was a bare board, incapable of that, but the people in charge of checking didn't know anything about computers.

I found them holding my $4500 board OUTSIDE OF THE STATIC BAG in one hand, and an MS-DOS based security audit diskette in the other.

You know its going to be a long day when you see stuff like that...

Buildings have their mysteries, especially after many years.

I've went into access cooridors in old buildings and explored them. Places which were built to give access to hidden wiring and other building services. Sometimes the people there had never been in them before, and sometimes its a museum of technology, not to mention a small fortune in copper.

I sometimes marvel at the equipment that gets left behind.

Some buildings that were built for telecommunications are a lot of fun to tour. Heavily shielded, and incredibly strong, with lots of access cooridors for managing the whole thing.

I keep wanting to see the AT&T blockhouse in Norfolk, VA, but the guards at the door don't look friendly. I doubt they give tours.
