I have just finished reading `Hitlers War', by Irving, and giving Irving's bias, it would seem that the Russians did intend attacking. (It does come through, again allowing for Irving's bias, how evil Hitler was).. Besides that, Stalin never started a war that he was not confident of winning of winning, whereas Hitler was a gambler.
