Most from Mexico, but a significant number from other SA countries. It's interesting to note that Mexico is trying everything it can to seal off its southern border, but we shouldn't do the same.
They cost more than they're paid. Sure, not all illegals are (otherwise) criminals, but they're not lilly-white either. The *FACT* is that they're illegal. Allowing them to stay automatically puts them under the radar where they have no incentive to live within the rules.
NAFTA was supposed to do this, but it didn't work. The governments in those countries is so corrupt that business can't be done.
They will pay what they need to. That's the point. If the minimum wage rises, so do all boats (and costs).
New paths? No new paths. Stop the demand and supply will dry up. Start throwing a few employers in jail and things might change. Canada might be closer to China than So.Cal., but it's still a long, cold swim.
