You may not believe that, or you may claim that it's true and I'm just not aware of it. I don't want to debate either of those in public. I did not remember (if I ever knew) that you were at some point a math major. Maybe that would have made a difference. I *always* buttume that you know what you're talking about when you talk about your experiences at DEC. When you say something that doesn't match my experience, I'm skeptical, and sometimes I say so. women in computing again: sorting Who is the woman who programmed a video chat system? Usenet was mostly done by guys. I know a few women who admin, but the code cutting was done by geeky friends. I... My guesses about what you mean are so often wrong that I try to keep them to myself. I'm regretting making the original snarky comment (about fighting words). Let's either drop it, or turn it into a (re)discussion of what things aren't emphasized enough in current CS programs (science?). Maybe some of the points that weren't clear to me in the earlier discussions could be publicly clarified. Or not. -- B. L.
