transputers again was: The dissolution of Commodore 2942
As long as you limit yourself to software and-or hardware that can be set for tab stops other than every 8 spaces. Perhaps I wasn't being clear enough. I'm referring to how a tab stop is interpreted. It might be in software, it might be in hardware, it might be in a driver - but sooner or later I figure I'm bound to run into one of the three that insists that tabs occur every 8 spaces and can't be convinced differently. And if this isn't true on my own machines, it's bound to be true if I try to take my source code somewhere else. I agree with you. It is evil. But for me it's the least evil of a number of evil possibilities. security was: the net again: transputers again was: Commodore 2943 Various portions of the Federal govt. are considering reclbuttifying certain documents. The DOE are among the leaders of this movement. They and the intelligence community... And that's the point - I really can't think of a better way that is portable. Well, maybe 4... touring the NTS was: security was: the net again: transputers again was: Commodore 2945 I scored terribly on SAT English (400s). But I got asked to edit a journal as a technical editor. Publishing companies hire MAs and PhDs in English as editors (production, copy, etc.), and they are... The one problem here is that my world is not emacs. I've never even used emacs. I'll give up my existing editor when you pry it from my cold dead fingers. But it's not just a matter of editors. My editor does have configurable tab spacing - but as soon as I tried to list my source code anywhere else I'd be back to 8-space indentation. I'm not optimistic about finding a solution that'll work for me. But at least it's fun to discuss the issue... -- I'm really at ac.dekanfrus if you read it the right way.
