There is no such thing as kind and gentle in this economic organization. Politics has to become involved to make every thing "fair" and equal. It always results in everybody, who is not in power, to be equally poor.

Capitalism for the economic piece and respresentative democracy for the political piece.

Since people are always going to be involved (that is what politics is all about), don't you think it is foolish to insist a system be put in place that can't possibly work if people are involved?

McCollough's(sp?) biography of Truman tells of a WWII hearing Truman chaired where the owners of manufacturers admitted that they were making some stuff cheap. These men were reduced to weeping because they had sons fighting overseas using this same sub-standard gear. I'll bet they were howling after they went home and those sons' mothers' found out about it. This is short-range thinking with long-range completely absent.
