The earliest reference to this expansion I've seen comes from around the time of version 5 of the PDP-10 monitor, as a (re)naming.

Your end date as a Tops-20 sysadmin is before my start date--I moved over to the systems staff at Chicago in 1982. However, my end date as a sysadmin and systems manager (and operator) on DEC 36-bit hardware has yet to be determined --we just got a 2065 up and running Tops-10, and we have had Tops-20 on an XKL Toad-1 for a long time. That's after 2 years at Chicago, 7 at Stanford LOTS, 1.5 at Cisco, and 9.5 at XKL.

And that doesn't even touch the emulators.

Might make interesting reading. I've known a couple of people in the past 25 years who could do that.
