Sigh! If you are a gal and you are competing with a guy, that guy's woman will be upset, very upset. If you are a gal and you are competing with a guy who is not as mentally agile as you, that guy will have serious territorial imperative problems. This is one of the sources of loveual harrbuttment (IME, the most common source); this guy will no longer be working at the task but will focus all efforts on proving he is better than the gal. The gal spends more time ducking these efforts than doing her job (which is study, learn or produce).

Now put the latter in a clbutt where he is told he has to "allow" the little woman to compete with him. This is when the guy gets violent. He has no way of establishing a territorial imperative with any female. Nobody is thinking.
