On 24 Nov 2005 09:27:48 -0500, Greg Menke I did a bit with an XBOX last year or so, at that time there was an idea that M$ was experimenting with the XBOX in ways to allow systems to only use their own games-programs, or at least allow developers that would pay heavily to use the system. Some of the family borrowed the Box, that was the last I saw of it. Seemed well engineered. The Linux crowd did a lot of work porting the OS over. Seemed a lot of work for very little reward.
You CAN connect keyboards, etc... takes a bit of connecting up. check comp.os.linux.xbox. These boxes (XBOX, Playstation, etc) are sold at a loss or breakeven to get users to buy games. compebreastion, realize that LAW is kinda like poker. No Matter how good a player you are, when its time to push the cash across the table, the one with the bigger pile of cash usually wins.. M$ wealth is largely ephemeral, their systems are not really much good, so their continuing wealth are dependent on savagely defending both their image and interests.
winscape 2238 Yea, that's the word. Thanks :-) Wang had a business model that had to support everything they ever shipped in... -- greymaus
