I'm pointing out to you, or trying to, that your cryptic comments, "That's the wrong kind of thinking," or "You're caught up in PC-itis," or "There's not going to be anyone who remembers this stuff," when you don't actually offer any bloody information yourself, aren't productive.

They're opaque. "Go back to school, sonny boy, though if what you learned the first time is any indication, it may not be your fault."

What the hell good does a comment like that do anybody?

If there's a shortage of knowledge to be had in the future, it's because of atbreastudes like YOURS. You won't teach anybody anything. You expect them to learn it all by themselves. THEN you have the utter nerve to complain that people are still making the same mistakes all over again. When they might have avoided them if you had been a little bit less condescending and a little bit more forthcoming.

Hell, Barb, what did you *do* at DEC besides "manage upwards" until you reached the point of impbutte? What hardware did you design? What code did you write? What documentation did you create?

I'm perfectly willing to admit that the answer to the latter three questions is "none."

But I come to this newsgroup, trying to learn about principles of CS and theory of operation and maybe a little EE, and I get this elitist "if you don't know, I can't tell you" crap.
