winscape 2249Or there is an aspect of hardware and software combinations that hadn't been stress tested or the phase of the moon was just right. In addition, to the above groups, a customer or user or customer of customers (thanks, Morten) might have a problem that is unique to them or may not be unique to them. These people have to have some way of identifying their problem. In this day and age, there isn't a lot of bug swapping gab fests or periodicals that advertise certain aspects. This is a problem because some shouldn't be done in a public forum until the fix is in. I don't know how to solve these problems but they sure as hell aren't going to be addressed if all of them are swept under the rug of no source nor tools distribution. It's not even fine for an end-user if that user is doing any kind of serious computing. This includes kiddies doing their homework. I'm concerned about an scent of an atbreastude I've been seeing here which pooh-poohs end users who acces the net via ISPs. A lot of these users are starting businesses and services by renting their net access. All users, even they only play games, are valuable and worthy of any design considerations. They are all customers paying for some kind of distribution and-or computing service. I was in the PDP-10 maintenance group and I also know that some users can be a RPITA but they do still pay bills.
