Batch streams acting as timesharing jobs required such things. If certain commands didn't wait until the human operator gave an OK, no batch could be done. Consider control files that required a private pack (or magtape) to be mounted before continuing.

I hated MCR. You could not issue a set of commands, then go away and trust it to take them one at a time and do the work. Installing the front end to a KL should not have required a human babysitter setting there getting twitchy.

If M came out in 75, it makes no sense to see an m+ in 76. I'm not trying to "correct" you nor argue with you. I'm trying to get the mess that happened back then straight in my mind.
