winscape 2333
I'm sticking with 98, the devil I know, its still leaking memory, but 512 meg usually lasts for as long as my Windoze sessions. winscape 2334 sprachen: It's just a tickbox in Windows 98, which I'm still happy with. It's the minimum to run most games, so it does me, and it runs the same newsreader... Yup, just like it used to be, early 70s, with RK05 cartridge disks. :) I was never happy with the non-removable Winchesters - they were more reliable than removable - but backup was usually to some non-bootable tape streamer contraption. Just backup the old cartridge onto an empty one, put the old (known to be good) one into the firesafe, continue computing with the copy, and get a free "defrag" as a bonus. I chose a Tandon 286 as the first pc I bought for my own use, it had MFM disks in removeable, house-brick sized "pucks" with a(n horrendously overcomplicated ) motor driven load eject mechanism. Expensive, but it paid for itself in saved time. Right now, I have six spare clones of my Windoze "c" drive ready for use if it just as much as hiccups. Four replacements in a day is my record, the problem turned out to be bad memory. It's so difficult to believe that a Windoze problem can be anything other than software. :( Backup before you install, *anything* can happen on an install. Regards, David P.
