They do say that a lot of the "stuff" is still secret. My brother tells me they are hyper-paranoid of Microsoft stealing the ideas if they are released now. Idiots.

Minus a point to Apple for being hyper-paranoid. And minus 5 points for Stevie being an idiot. Perhaps he shouldn't have taken all that Acid in his younger days.

XP Restore does nothing but back up versions of the Registry, not the actual applications or data. In fact, many times, restoring to an earlier Registry REMOVES access to already-installed programs and data So Apple sure beats Microsoft with TimeMachine. Huzzah for Apple on this one.

Apple gets 2 points for this one.

Of course, backing up all that software is gonna cost much diskspace, and they give purchasers very small HDs. Minus one point to Apple for giving their purchasers such small HDs. Minus one point to Microsoft for a Restore which only restores the Registry to an earlier time.

And you actually answered another of my posts by saying that "broadband is dirt-cheap nowadays". So WHY don't all these people have "dirt-cheap broadband", instead of slow dialup?

Minus a point to them for being such dunderheads, and minus another point to them for being so "cheap".

All this is good, but Outlook Express and Outlook have both had "stationary" for years, so that's nothing new. By the way, wouldn't ANYONE say that in this case, it Apple is COPYING Microsoft, rather than the other way around?

Minus one point for Apple here. Minus another for accusing Microsoft of copying THEM, when Apple is actually copying Microsoft.

Too bad neither Outlook-Entourage or Apple Mail will import each other's email. Too bad Apple Mail will import-export NO email, other than its own. Of course, this is much the same as Entourage. Too bad even Entourage won't import Windows Outlook PSTs, or the other way around.

Let's hope so. I think this has come about as a result of the fragile nature of the Windows OS. "System Restore" has evolved...

Minus 2 points for Apple. Minus 2 points for Microsoft.

mouse will not work on MI's iBook 3255
At least it's not doing what my PC used to do, where plugging in the mouse would make the cursor go crazy all over the screen at random intervals, sending click input to everything. Hell...

I do admit the Apple Mail Stationary looks better. Half a point for Apple.

Nothing new here. Entourage already does it, as well as Windows Outlook. But of course, both of them must be purchased along with MS Office. So a point for Apple here.

Actually, RSS belongs in the Browser, not Email.

Minus a point to you for being such an idiot. Minus a point to Apple developers for such crappy Usenet applications.

Again, minus a point for copying Microsoft, since Outlook 2007 has RSS built into it. Or, minus a point to Microsoft for copying Apple (but HOW did they find out what Apple was doing with its Mail program)?

Personally, I believe they probably copied each other here.

And plus a point to Microsoft developers for superior Usenet clients.

Good ideas. To bad iChat AV STILL won't interact with Microsoft. Minus a point to Apple, minus a point to Microsoft for failing to open their chat networks to each other.

But controlling other computers belongs in the Server, not the Workstation.

But both Apple and Microsoft put it in their Workstations. Minus a point to the both of them.

Oh, yeah, I forgot: Minus a point to Apple for failing to provide a Windows driver for the iSight camera in Boot Camp buttistant.

And while we're at it, minus a point to Apple for failing to provide a Windows driver in Boot Camp buttistant for the Apple Remote Controller.

Very good idea on Apple's part. Plus a couple of points to Apple. But minus a point to Apple for their crappy-butted white MenuBar, which they just WON'T get rid of.

Novel idea. Too bad you STILL can't put Widgets directly on the Desktop. Plus a point for the upgrade to Dashboard, minus a point for failing to add the ability to put Widgets directly on the Desktop. Plus 2 points to Microsoft for their superior Gadgets in Vista.

Plus a point to Apple for upgrading Spotlight with Boolean searching. Minus a point to Microsoft for its crappy searching ability.

Minus a point to both Microsoft and Apple for making it nearly impossible to use iCal invitations in Outlook. Plus a point to Microsoft for making it much easier in Outlook 2007.

Never use them, except making the Mouse pointer larger in OS X. Half a point to Apple.

But, plus a point to Microsoft for having pointer themes, which include larger pointers.

Not a developer, so they are pretty meaningless to me. Zero points to both Apple and Microsoft.

Too bad OS 10.5 has the same old crappy sky-blue and white desktop. Minus 2 points to Apple for not listening to Windows switchers (who raised their Desktop sales penetration to over 12% of the Market in the last few months).
