Airport Security Faster *Without* ID 2683

I would agree. Although following the every cloud has a silver lining rule, I've found that in many places, the new environment is actually beneficial to people who carry guns while traveling by air. In several major airports, I've found that traveling with firearms results in head of the line privileges. If you are authorized to have a firearm at your point of origin and the destination - take one along! As soon as you get to airport, introduce yourself to the nearest security official and inform them that you are traveling with firearms, and could they help with any special procedures or requirements. In many cases, they bent over backwards to get the weapon inspected and out of my hands and into checked baggage. In Philadelphia, the head of the line privileges extended not only to the check in line, but the security screening as well. That was great, but the absolute best reaction I received was from the security at the Jacksonville, FL airport. The security guard reminded me that I had to declare the handgun to the airline when I checked my bag, and would I please be discrete if the baggage agent asked to see that it was unloaded. Oh, she also wished me a pleasant flight! No special privileges, no reaction at all. It was no big deal.
