Yea right. Apple is adding a new feature called Time Machine to Leopard. It will require an additional HD to function. This feature is a very good one and will work really well for those with internal HDs. Those who choose to add external HDs like on the iMinime and the iMac will have to put them on the outside. That means USB or Firewire, both are slow compared to EIDE or SATA. It's a pain using an external HD to run HD intensive software like games and something like Time Machine.

Look. People will like laptops until they want something more powerful and expandable. I think people will continue to buy laptops in addition to desktops. Don't look for people to dump desktops for laptops. BTW I wonder how they will use Time Machine on laptops since it needs another HD. I mean there could be another bay but would they have to give up something for the HD?

Yes they will if it's marketed properly.

Also a lot of people upgrade when new OSes come out. So do businesses.

Dell would love to do this. But Apple does not want to allow that.

No it does not. Microsoft does not require computer companies to use their OS exclusively. Are you smoking crack. Please explain this.

Now you've just lost it. Apple is selling the same quality hardware as Dell but at higher prices.

No it sounds like a way for Apple to walk the walk istead of just talking the talk. They will do this eventually. Just watch.

I'm not talking about techs, I'm talking about a more savy computer user. They are the same folk who owned computers and went out and bought Windows 95 when it came out. At the time 95 was the most advanced thing out there for consumers with PCs. Some of the same people bought newer versions of Windows. People have made MS great by buying the OS and upgrading.

As for it being clunky, what the hell does the Mac Pro look like?

Of course you would. You couldn't find fault with Apple if they built a factory in Darfur and used little kids for slave labor.

No it makes a complete backup every single day like it says. For many it won't take much to do this but for others...

I'm not talking about cheap quality, I'm talking about cheaper than dual Xeon processors. Those are workstations not meant for average home users. Apple should be building singe Core Duo or Core 2 Duo computers in the same price range as other clone makers. These computers should be average desktops that can take a new HD or card. I mean what if a new USB, SATA or Firewire standard came out? An average PC users would pop in a card to use it, with a Mac, you'd have to buy a new computer. It's not practical and is very limiting.

In the Time Machine scenario, nothing is run directly from the external HD; data just gets pushed to it in the background as files are updated on the internal HD. Performance shouldn't...

Oh yes it will when the user wanst to use Time Machine to retrieve something. It'll be a major issue when you get tired of waiting. Yea when...

This is a fairly whacky claim. There isn't even going to be a noticeable difference...
