Apple ahead of schedule 3129
I can't believe this. Nothing Apple could have done could have thrown one of MS's...

Yes. As long as the apps are there they users will come in time. But it will take time.

This is not an attractive alternative!

This is unattractive enough for performance-intensive apps that switching to Windows looks better.

I used to play Myth: The Fallen Lords, but it's been awhile. :D

Still, just because Apple won't lose *every* customer over this does not mean it's not a problem at all!

No way. Even Apple never claimed it was this easy. And Apple pretended there was no testing burden, which is silly.

And even if it were so, the port to Cocoa is a major, major effort in itself.

Games are tough, but Windows at least *tries* to make these things work. Even for old DOS games.

You might want to read your own post. You yourself are going to lose the use of some apps when you move to a Mac Pro, since Clbuttic will be gone, and you will suffer with emulation for other apps as well.

That's the pain for users.

The pain for developers is greater than you've admitted, in my opinion.
