Apple ahead of schedule 3144Ah. This is the standard lock-in schtick. :D snip Hmm. I do not see any difference between Windows and OS X here; if you are reading and writing your own file formats, and you want to store your color profile in there, you have to do that. This would seem to mean that on either platform Photoshop files need to include profile data. snip This isn't so. MS promotes sRGB as the way to get more-or-less good colors *without using* Microsoft's color management software. Devices just approximate this profile, and applications need to do... nothing at all. But MS *does have* a color management system, and it is not "primarily focused around" sRGB or anything like that. Apple ahead of schedule 3145 DOS is still supported after 25. snip Yes. But Apple simply doesn't care about compatibility as much as MS does. This is most dramatically... Photoshop would seem to be an app that ought to use the actual API, I should think. It is being augmented in Vista; Vista's version is a superset of XP's. My review of the docs suggests it is not a large upgrade, but it isn't all documented yet, so we'll see. As far as I can see, even in Vista ICM isn't better than ColorSync in any obvious way, so I don't expect it to contribute to any migration. But I don't see why it is an obstacle to such, except for the usual compatibility thing. Apple ahead of schedule 3146 Apple knows better; you will observe that during the keynote Steve brought up developer adoption of Intel too. Sure, you can talk... snip
