Apple ahead of schedule 3145DOS is still supported after 25. snip Yes. But Apple simply doesn't care about compatibility as much as MS does. This is most dramatically seen with their recent decision to drop- outright!- support for Clbuttic. But they also offered weaker compatibility when upgrading to OS X, and would have offered event less had their developers not laid down the law to them. We hope so. But I wonder; chipmakers have been finding it harder and harder to boost clockspeeds lately, and have begun to resort to multicore chips. These allow them to use the increase in transistors that they still get, but the speed gain is no longer automatic; you have to engineer your apps to be parallel. Apple ahead of schedule 3146 Apple knows better; you will observe that during the keynote Steve brought up developer adoption of Intel too. Sure, you... And nobody will do that for old, obsolete apps. Nor is it obvious to me how Rosetta could be rewritten to take advantage of multiprocessing. snip
