Microsoft's little stock smoothing affair and some other minor *ahem* accounting adjustments have not affected shareholder confidence in it's monopoly.
If it was "just Apple", it would be entirely different, but many firms have the exact same...
Most of the firms that did not fall apart like Enron are doing just fine after the cheif executive thieves got caught and their wrists slapped by their fellow Skull and Bonesmen in government.
What they don't tell you in school is that crime does pay, you just have to steal enough to cover the kickbacks.
Most of the 20th. centuries wealthiest families like the Kennedy's and the Duponts got their fortune started using dubious money. For example, Joe Kennedy was in bed with the mob and made bucketloads from smuggling food to the Germans when the Kaiser went to war with his cousins.
