Apple dries up in the Sun 2487Edwin That $895 system on that chart shows an AMD model 144 processor. At AMDs website the model 144 is a single core processor. It seems that Sun has made an error in their ad. The dual core numbers start at model 165. Go to the price and buy section and you won't find it. The support options are of course extra. No, I had to go to Suns web site too. If they were offering an X2 type box, I'd be johny on the spot. :-) I almost bought the medium sized system with just the single core last year, but I would have had to go out and buy an DVD-read-write drive. There is Real player for the Sparc version, but finally real networks came out with an x86 version. Apple dries up in the Sun 2488 GreyCloud Bingo. See, Edwin posts a link to Sun's website and states with Edwin-esque authority "Sun make a dual-core... I really had to double check out the interval math part, and I finally found it buried in the free download of SunStudio11 in the release notes.
That's the part that is starting to scare some Sun customers. They're wondering if Sun is still serious with their Sparc line. -- Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?
