Apple vs The Scroll Wheel 1105
I have successfully connected scrollwheel-equipped USB mice from MacAlly, Logitech, and HP into various Macs. No such mouse I have ever tried has failed to work. (I don't actually care if that makes me a mac Jihadist.) Apple vs The Scroll Wheel 1106 This is laughable!!! The first post I ever made here years ago was in regards to an Ipod had a problem with. I was immediately reamed by you paranoid mac jihad as... Muahman, instead of looking for ways to make macs look bad, you could instead ask people this way: "I'd like to use a mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel. What kinds work? " The only problem with this approach is that while friendly Mac users and advocates such as myself will give you answers useful to your immediate cause -- using your Mac with a scrollwheel mouse --, they will remove rational reasons for our continual whining and bickering and complaining. Here, watch this: PseudoMuahMan: I'd like to use a mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel. What kinds work? Apple vs The Scroll Wheel 1108 quote for context supplied I can handle negative comments about Apple. I've made a few myself. You're just too busy to notice. interestingly, although this post... Helpful Mac Advocate: Try one from MacAlly, Logitech, or HP. They all worked for me without loading a driver. An answer from a technical perspective would be useful for people other than MuahMan, who has proven himself unwilling or incapable of understanding: The USB standard includes HID or Human Interface Devices. These include mice and keyboards. Any device built to follow this standard, which Apple follows, will work with any host designed to use it. Anyone who builds a mouse these days would be smart to follow the HID standard. Any mouse that does not follow the HID standard can't be expected to work in any computer without special drivers. As a matter of fact, the infamous Apple one-button USB mice follow this standard. I used one once to rescue an ailing Windows box whose AT mouse had crapped out. Despite the lack of a second button, I was able to get the PC to do a graceful shutdown. --
