Uhh, what sort of tasks are you doing with a quad Xeon box that *wouldn't* be accomplished better on GNU-Linux? Video editing, maybe. What makes you think a desktop version of Windows would be useful for this anyway?

Why does everyone buttume that I meant to go in the bargain big and dig out what I could find? There's no reason to use that $230 case--a $100-150 case could match what Apple's giving in terms of build quality. As for the power supply, you could do just fine with a weaker one. Weaker as in 'lower power output', not 'quality'. You could save $40 for no loss of effectiveness by going down to a 550watt power supply, and that's going for a really nice 550W PSU.
