You are a bit confusing here. Macs play DVDs out of the box. Playing QuickTime is different. You are right that you need QuickTime Pro to play full screen. It is a method...

I love my Mac for a lot of reasons, but the fact is, Windows Movie Maker is really good, and the Media Center is nice, and the Media Player is good in Windows. No DVD codec built in is a major flaw in Windows (even XP Media Center Edition 2005). If you install Windows from the MS disc, and nothing else, and you have a DVD player, you cannot watch DVDs. That's pretty friggin bad. On the Mac, you have to pay extra, or get some third party product, to play QuickTime full screen. That is bad too.

Now now, settle down. Sadly Apple's move turns out to be a good idea. IBM screwed up big time. They hit a speed wall...

I found the unkept slacker versus goofy corporate guy to be insulting. The Mac guy looked like he could not even afford a Mac. I realize he is supposed to look "creative" or something, but he looked like he should be delivering pizzas or at a Blockbuster register.

Windows does suck, IMHO, but mostly for simple things, not crashes. Like being able to right-click and look up a word definition or google a highlighted bit of text, and with an OS-wide spelling checker. I mean, you can't do squat in IE without plug-in-tool-bar-active-x junk shoved on top of it. But some things, like the task bar is way better then the stupid dock, are better in Windows.

But the little things, like anti-aliased edged windows with drop shadows, OpenGL stuff everywhere, Spotlight and such make using a mac enjoyable. Windows is not enjoyable, it is tolerable.

jerryeveretts wrote (in article Major OS updates that change core components require a reboot for the changes to take effect. There's no rocket science...
