I just downloaded the newest version of Ubuntu and burned it. I tried it by booting off the live CD. It was fast. Up in a few minutes and I had access to the internet. I plan on installing it to try it out for a week or so. Linux can be a very good OS if you're interested in anything but games and graphics. But that seems to be changing. I like the idea of Ubuntu in having a free Linux with lots of support and development. It's what can bring Linux to the mainstream. I also like the work some are doing to allow Windows programs run under Linux. The more people that switch to Linux and Unix the better for all of us as the compebreastion to put out a better, more stable product will spur innovation. I remember in the 80s and 90s when Amigas, Apples, Macs and Ataris were computers in compebreastion with each other. It spurred innovation. Many software companies ported their games and apps to multiple platforms. It was great. That can be duplicated today with OSes rather than hardware. I hope it happens. John
