DRM what DRM, iTunes doesn't have DRM... :^ 2860Trip to the Apple store today... 33HumfHSaKlA~jG9gd Was amazed to see the crowds of children around this small "kids center" where they could try out various educational breastles on a number of iMacs. A bunch of children, all...
I beg to differ, but I'm not going to get into THAT argument again. That might be true with pop music (I wouldn't know), but its not true nor would it be acceptable for clbuttical. A gross generalization and oversimplification in my view. Its a well known technical term. When a compression technology makes "decisions" about what portions of the musical signal that the listener can "do without" or "doesn't need" it's adapting (or adjusting, if you will) the level of compression being used at any given moment. MP3 is an example of adaptive compression as is Sony's ATRAC system used for Mini-Disc. An exmple of non-adaptive compression would be Apple's lossless compression scheme which, ostensibly, throws nothing away and simply uses "shorthand" to compress signals - like a zip file for music (ok, now I'M oversimplifying).
