i think people often forget Apple has the very top part of the market, not the lowend, so they concentrate their efforts there as well. as well all know, what apple does, influences the market in a mbuttive way, totally disproportionate to their "size". it's good to be king.

borrowed time? everyone knows they will not make PowerMacs past Dec 31st 2006. Apple could afford to have many platforms, that's not the point, it's getting down to the purest elements.

Xserves are extremely popular, and the best value in the entire 1U space. the RAIDs are person for the price, so Apple has a long life in Servers with OSX.

It would never happen, unless Apple sold a OSX "Lite" version. Apple is a hardware company, not a software company, they live to build great hardware and nobody on the pc front can do that. except maybe Sun.

iPods were only 60% in the christmas quarter, they will settle down to 50% or less during the rest of the year. iPods will continue grow quickly, but revenue wise they are no match for Apple computer hardware, especially once the Intel transition is complete, we could see iPod revenue dwindle in comparison.
