I agree. I think Apple's customer relations is very poor and always has been. Their phone help is often clueless, or, has a fixed set of responses that they have to use, and if your request falls outside of that programming, they're so clueless that they often don't even know how to respond to you. Apple is not the only company with this problem, but they, of all people, should know that they need to be better at all facits of their business than are the likes of HP, Dell, Gateway, Sony, et al. All I can say is that when you got to the right person, they did the right thing by you, and you should at least be thankful for that. I've dealt with companies over similar situations (not exactly the same thing, but dealing with corporate rebates that were kicked back to me for one reason or another) that never were able to resolve the issue to my satisfaction. One thing you can do is send Steve Jobs an e-mail. I've heard that he does read them and often looks into things like this.
