Is that Dvorak or Dork &A#JD1Tg!d8
Exactly. Here is where you can download the video for yourself via a BitTorrent client (versus the crap video at YouTube): For those who do not know what is going on: JC Dvorak is the worst computer technology writer in the business. What makes him bad is that he is a liar, is incredibly lazy, and bluntly unimaginative. Take all these attributes then put the guy to work writing predictions about the future of technology. As you can imagine the result is total cack. So how do you get cack to sell? You make it as outrageous as possible in order to stir up controversy. Now add to that scene the Macintosh community who are constantly forced into a position of defending their minority computer platform choice by virulent, big fanged sheep who insist they follow the pack or be ostracized as 'Mac fanboys', 'Mac zealots', 'those awful Mac users', ad nauseum. If you are at all familiar with this group you know exactly what I mean. We are talking about Windows PC users who go out of their way to waste a significant part of their day to go to a Macintosh advocacy site with the sole purpose of upsetting Mac users. We are talking about outright sadomasochists here. So how do normal people respond to sadomasochism? With revulsion and the motivation to stop their perversion. And of course this makes the S&Ms happy, the cycle goes round and round, and you end up with 90% stupid messages on the subject of computer platform choice. This is certainly the case here at CMSA. BTW: Side theory = one has to be S&M to actually choose to use Windows. Mac users do not comprehend S&M. Comparing these MACS 27 Oh, I dunno. Pre PPC software runs even today under Clbuttic. I use a program called MacEnvelopes that hasn't been... Noticing this phenomenon, JC Dvorak is what we call a 'baiter'. You can use this word in two contexts: (1) He likes to 'bait' Mac users, who are already fed up with being abused by the S&Ms. Toss out the fishing bate, reel in the justifiably annoyed Mac users. (2) Dvorak likes to 'masterbait' as in self-pleasure himself through the suffering of others. You guess it! He is another S&M. The very best example of Dvorak at his worst is when he wrote a prediction that Apple was going to give up on Mac OS X and switch to Windows on their Macintel hardware. I dubbed this article 'The Stupidest Computer Article Of All Time.' My particular type of response to such articles can be called 'unmasking the troll' or 'tag the rectum'. But really the process should be called 'laughing at the village idiot.' I prefer this process because nothing ticks off an S&M, or any other innately evil human, like laughing at them. Comparing these MACS 26 Not so. Apple has promised to provide parallel OSes for PPC and Intel based Macs until at least 2012, and the apps will be dual binaries until at least then as well... What is surprising about the video referenced above is that apparently Dvorak has had some sort of transcendent moment where he learned to laugh at himself. Does this bode hope for the future of his writing? No. He has no talent. But at least we can rest buttured that the next time he lies, baits, exaggerates, etc., that his conscience will be ripping at him for doing his dirty deeds. That is all one can ask for his this world. -- Fortune Magazine, 11-29-05: What's your computer setup today? Frederick Brooks: I happily use a Macintosh. It's not been equalled for ease of use, and I want my computer to be a tool, not a challenge. Frederick Brooks is the author of 'The Mythical Man Month'. He spearheaded the movement to modernize computer software engineering in 1975
