Grown up discussions about Mac vs. PC
Hey, I'm looking for somewhere that I might find some grown-up discussions on MAC...

You have to scroll down the web page to find the brief article.

I) Windows Live OneCare:

Essentially this is an additional $50 cost, per year, for the privilege of running Windows without the consequences of its mulbreastude of security vulnerabilities. And that is being optimistic. I have no doubt Microsoft's answer to anti-virus software will be just as lame as their other software offerings. They never figured out how to patch all their OS holes. What makes them think they can come up with decent AV software to make up for their incompetence?

Wha wha WHAT!?!?!?

And anti-Mac Wintrolls attack Mac users for being complacent?!?!?!?

Let me state that again, in case you are as amazed as I am:

70 ( S E V E N T Y ) PERCENT of Windows users have no anti-virus protection.

Am I missing something here? Is this possible? There are over 150,000 documented pieces of Window malware. Can Windows users really be so naive, ignorant, dopey, stupid, or just plain silly that they are security clueless? Gawd help their computers.

Total bullpoo. I said nothing in favor of the Mac, I merely stated that YOU are full of poo. You say you can use...

II) I am equally astounded by this statement:

BACK UP DATA!

This has to be one of those rare times I have to applaud Microsoft for having a good, albeit obvious, idea. As I always rant: Making a backup is the #1 rule of computing. What a great idea to combine backups with

Know why I especially like this? It gives the compebreastion a kick in the butt, inciting them to catch up and do better. Compebreastion is the father of innovation. Most excellent. Take that, Symantec and McAfee!

-- Fortune Magazine, 11-29-05: What's your computer setup today? Frederick Brooks: I happily use a Macintosh. It's not been equalled for ease of use, and I want my computer to be a tool, not a challenge. Frederick Brooks is the author of 'The Mythical Man Month'.
