They've bought into the myth that a new version name or number actually indicates new features. For instance, Vista was supposed to have all kinds of new features, but everything except the glitz got cut. And along with that, they've bought into how Microsoft felt it had to significantly change the UI with every iteration of Windows. Windows Vista would be completely unrecognizable to someone who has been only using Windows 3.1, and a pretty big hurdle for someone from Windows 95.

And since the Windroids aren't themselves familiar with OS X, they do not know that all the dot-releases (that means 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4) included new features. All they saw was that the UI is pretty much the same as with 10.0 ... and that although the OS was completely new, that was not even as big a leap from 9.1 as was the leap from Windows 3.1 to 95.

Of course, in tomelam's case, none of that complex thinking applies. Tom's just trolling, and he uses Apple's product numbering scheme as an easy (but stupid) target.

I I don't think it works that way, anyway. Apple evolves its OS like Microsoft evloves Windows. It adds features...
