That doesn't suggest that the number is low, but that the number of badly-written viruses is high. Get it? The number of viruses causing real problems today is not flexible -- so this kind of statement tells you to adjust the other end of the scale -- the number which is not causing problems. And this doesn't reduce the number of 16-bit viruses, which is naturally going to be a higher figure, anyway. Here are two more references to the AV companies using larger numbers. And yet another statement that there really is an actual threat, in spite of the hopeful ignorance of people who insist they have never found a problem.
Okay -- that's 600 for 32-bit viruses, and 667 found by participants during the month of April, and 232 in December. Can we buttume you are going to give up that stupid claim of 180 total over the history of the industry?
