I don't think so.

The two have no relationship. This is not a mathematical formula we're discussing, and I fail to see why you've dragged that idea in.

Please don't insult my intelligence by buttuming this is 'beyond my comprehension'. I simply disagree that it would be that difficult for most users to grasp. It might take a little time for some, but them most new things take a little time to be buttimilated.

On my own panel, for instance, the desktop switcher has four 'windows'. If I switch from the current one to another by clicking on the next window in the row, I can still see that the apps I was just using remain on the first desktop. Not exactly rocket science.

No, I am quite correct. You're making difficulties where none exist. Of course, some users are going to be less able to take advantage of virtual desktops, but the majority should have no difficulty. It takes no more than a second to glance at the panel, where you can see what is where. If you are in any doubt, it is a trivial matter to flip through the desktops till you hit the one you want.

You're being deliberately stupid here. Please stop it. The pagers give a miniature view of the desktops and their apps - as you well know. Check out Roy's screenshot if you want 'proof'.

Exactly. Which is what it does. Virtual pagers - you can get 3D ones if you want - merely give a visual representation of the desktops, making it easy to see what is where.

Of course, not all users will like to use v. desktops, but I see no reason why it should be terribly difficult for most of them to learn to use them, if their usage is properly and clearly demonstrated.
