snip- Mac OS has little malware
Well, expecting advocates to be impartial is asking quite a lot, I think. You can certainly read the arguments, such as they are, if you chose. You don't have to stick to impartial ones only.

Perhaps so. I feared that you would try to define Unix arguments from there. I think I...
I have confidence in my own knowledge, I butture you.
If I do that, how will people know I'm a Wintroll? Should I wear a nametag?
I have data: the posts of the Mac advocates here.
That's as good as "eleventy zillion Windows viruses, zero for the Mac" stuff that's getting pbutted off as argument on this thread!
But surely you wouldn't be dishonest enough to try to win an argument by redefining terms, would you?
that, but it's not like typical Mac OS users are exercising
OS X is not Unix because it isn't; Unix is a registred trademark of X-Open and they decide what to label with it. And Mac OS X is not one of the products they bless.
It is *also* the case that it is largely composed of code, and if you believe the System V or BSD codebases are high-quality, that might be important to you.
But, as I will explain, it probably shouldn't be.
You aren't quite following me here.
Dashboard is an Apple product that contained (at its release) a ghastly horrible set of security defects; both the design and implementation were highly exploitable.
did nothing to prevent this. Had X-Open blessed it with their trademark, still it would not be any better. Whether Apple is a Unix is strictly irrelevant.

You mean "by defining terms differently," don't you? I'm trying to get someone to come up with a reasonable definition of "unix" -- wait a minute, I just said that. What's dishonest about...
Heck, had Apple started by taking Solaris or any other very reputable Unix, and then built Dashboard on top, it still would not be any better. They might then have a highly trustworth, rock-solid kernel, but Dashboard would still be full of holes.
