Mostly only if you have to access its brand of X. That is where the hard part is at. A straight X windows program isn't the problem until you try to run something say from Linux to Suns XSun server and you are also in CDE version 1.2 that needs Motif 2.1. You then have to sort out the deprecated calls and bump up to the newer APIs. Sun and the rest usually have the libs necessary to go between the two major Unixes of BSD and SYSV.

But you don't specify which clbutt of APIs you are referring to. Anything to do with the window server is going to cause you problems. Do you think that a UNIX from DEC running DECWindows will run on Solaris? Nope. DECWindows and XSun are two different window servers.
