New Patch Fixes 43 Flaws In OS X, Many Serious 2148I find that astonishing. I routinely purchase Windows software, and only twice have I also gotten OS 9 software on the same CD. (This was Myth: The Fallen Lords and its sequel). snip OS X has not licensed the Unix trademark; we don't even know that it would pbutt the compatibility tests X-Open demands. little since Unix software is little used on the Mac. Mac software predominates. New Patch Fixes 43 Flaws In OS X, Many Serious 2149 Daniel Johnson So far it seems to pbutt the tests that I can find and... It's like saying that Windows XP is DOS because it has a DOS box. Actually, you might be surprised about this. The tools Apple offers go much deeper than just the GUI. Even essentials like memory Debt Management are different. You can of course *choose* not to take advantage of any of the Macs features but the GUI, but that's not really a compebreastive approach. Try compiling some Mac OS X software for Solaris. :D The compatibility you are plugging is strictly one way; you can run a Unix program on the Mac, but not a Mac program on Unix. By contrast, consider that Carbon lets you write a Mac OS X program that runs on Mac OS 9. Win32s lets you write a Windows NT program than runs on Windows 3.1. These technologies have their limits, but they represent a connection between these platforms that is more than marketing. Nope. Honeslty, if *I* were from Apple, I'd be insulted that you thing OS X is just another Unix. Mac OS X deserves more Credit Debt that you are giving it here.
