Sorry, got uid and process id crossed. 0 is procid for the swapper. And progid 1 is for the init.

Depends on how the programmer wrote his program in this case. If you write it as pid = fork() and don't check pid you are in trouble. If the return is a negative, I believe, then it means a failure.
But the fact that init is the ultimate parent, and if the child fails for whatever reason, then init is in control. A nice feature if you ask me.
It is quite obvious to me now that you are in here to troll away and make unfounded claims without any proof or backing.
Take your crazy windows is better than Unix garbage somewhere else troll.
