OSX's amazing resize! 1638OSX's amazing resize! 1639 Screen Capture functions are just as simple: Entire screen as a file : command-shift-3 Entire screen to clipboard : command...
It's unfair (and especially inaccurate) to paint me with that brush. I explained reasonably why I thought so -- why did you have to make a personal attack? You've gotten meaner this week. Both Safari and MS Word use a Status Bar at the bottom edge; that's a different function. Terminal doesn't use a window frame because it has character limits built-in. I kind of see what you mean; Apple has allowed some differences in the way windows are drawn. But since there are reasons for not being consistent in that way (and since there may be no benefit to being consistent with that rule) I suppose someone just decided there were useful exceptions to my offered UI rule (which is from UI discussion with Apple and experts in the mid-90s, I should say). And it would in mine -- it's a favorite criticism of mine about Windows operations, too. Except you just named a consistency. The brushed metal appearance isn't the only clue -- a particular size of the border is another, and the actual need to move or resize the window is another. Being consistent is less meaningful here than offering the right functions. Terminal, for instance, offers transparency and color options that help the way it is used -- to also put a frame on the window just to be consistent with window-moving UI is a weak reason at best. OSX's amazing resize! 1641 The same logic does apply to XP. I never said that it didn't work. I never go to Windows Newsgropus and tell Windows users that their... I hope this part of the discussion continues -- UI is one of the better reasons to be critical of all of the operating systems today. They can all do almost everything we really want -- and we should be demanding that they do it better (Mac OS and Windows and Linux and all others!)
