OT: This Week In Voting Machine Security 3429
In the US, the vote totals ARE released by precinct. Thus you get the X% of Y precincts reporting graphic. For instance from the Indiana Sec of State's Website "In most counties, ballots are counted first at local polling places by precinct election officials. These officials then travel on election night to a central counting location (often the county courthouse) to report the precinct election results to the county election board." There is a requirement that the county elections people certify the vote to the state. The vote totals for each precinct are available. Other information (how many registered, how many voted, bad ballots, etc) are avilable on a precinct by precinct basis, although in Indiana anyway, you will probably have to paw through the raw data to get the information. That would be wrong. The votes are counted at the precinct level and then the results are sent upwards. OT: This Week In Voting Machine Security 3430 Under whose scrutiny? I should also point out that if there are suspicions of fraud over here, that's immediately... Worked for all this time with some problems but not a single armed coup or rebellion. Orderly transfers of power even in times of deep divisions. Screw the arab dictators.
