OT: This Week In Voting Machine Security 3440Michelle Steiner I apologize. I'll try not to do that again.
Yes there is. Approximately half of the power of congress is apportioned by state and not by population. Both compromises (the structure of Congress and this particular fact about the EC) have the same underlying reasons. I don't understand how one could have outlived its usefulness while the other hasn't. Particularly because the one which you object to is far more mild then the one you consider still useful. I fully agree that the indirectness of the EC has no place in our modern system, but the reasons for the two extra votes per state can only be said not to apply if the reasons for having the Senate no longer apply. OT: This Week In Voting Machine Security 3439 Michelle Steiner Yes. But it still gives the residents of smaller states a greater voice than those in larger states. We may have "one person one vote" but some votes do... -j -- I rarely read top-posted, over-quoted or HTML posts My Reply-To address is valid.
