They suck. The simple fact is, we can't go cold turkey on fossil fuels. We have to find reasonable ways to transition away from them that won't kill us or leave us desbreastute.
It doesn't do any good for those with vested interests in continuing to use those resources to paint the "other side" as being uniformly radical.
Neither is petroleum. Remember 1973?
It's not just the salmon, it's the entire f***ing valley and the entire surrounding area that gets changed. And then you get all the motorboating tourons on their who spill gasoline into those lakes. Oh, a couple ounces won't hurt anything...
What you do is map the migratory routes and put the receiving areas where there aren't any. Like in the middle of deserts. Or you get people smarter than either you or me to look for and work out the possible problems.

No solution will be perfect by itself, and we can't throw out any specific solution for not being perfect...
Well, it's going to hurt one way or another. But one way it will hurt a whole lot... Like when the landbound ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica start to melt.
