OT More Evidence That Al Gore Is Full Of It 481

First of all, John, lets get something straight. Bush & Co. are not Conservatives, they are Republicans. And while they used to be the same thing, they aren't any more. Conservatives have NO representation in the US Government at this time.

Now, with that out of the way, let me state that from what I can see, there is no iron-clad proof that Global Warming is a man-made phenomenon. In fact the evidence is that the world has been in a warming trend for about 100 years. The amount of warming and the rate at which the mean temperature climbed was almost exactly the same for the 35-year period between 1910 and 1945 as it has been between 1977 and 2006 (29 years) with a hiatus between these two warming trends from about 1950 to about 1975. Now, we are told that the current warming trend is caused by humans releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. But what of the almost identical temperature rise between 1910 and 1947? There weren't nearly as many people in the world then, there were certainly fewer countries producing greenhouse gases as many third world countries had no automobiles or heavy manufacturing infrastructure of any kind. How can the exact same rise and rate of change in the early part of the 20th century be caused by human activity when that human activity was orders of magnitude lower than it is now? And if the 1910 to 1945 was also cause by human produced greenhouse gases, then we can extrapolate that reducing the world's output of greenhouse gbuttes to the 1910 level would have NO EFFECT whatsoever on rising temperature (because the low level of greenhouse gases produced in 1910 didn't stop the tempertaure rising then, why would a similar output level stop the rising temperature now?). Face it. Logically, you proponents of Global Warming simply can't have it both ways and either way points to the hypothesis that current warming trends are man-made being false.

I'll try to explain, but I don't want to write a book here. If you say that Global Warming is caused by humans releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere today, then how do you account for the very similar warming trend of 1910-1945? And if you try to say that the earlier warming period was also caused by greenhouse gases released by human activity, then reducing current emissions by orders of magnitude now, won't have any effect on the current trend, leading us to the inescapable conclusion that human activity must not be contributing as much to the phenomenon as the pro-GW crowd would have us believe. That being true, it blows the case for "we-gotta-stop-burning-hydrocarbons-or -perish" right out of the water.

Coal was used in the 19th century too and no global warming occured then, but that's not important. Fact is, coal or oil, the amout of CO2 contributed by civilization in 1910...
