George Graves When you say, "I don't think it shows that," what does "it" refer to? The model does show that. The model of the earth's temperature is...
Coal was used in the 19th century too and no global warming occured then, but that's not important. Fact is, coal or oil, the amout of CO2 contributed by civilization in 1910 was miniscule compared to what it is today. If you're going to blame coal for the 1910-1945 temperature rise, then the 1977 temperature rise should have (1) started earlier, (2) been 100's of time worse and many times faster, because there was that much more CO2 being produced in the late seventies, than in the 1910's. But its not. The figures speak for themselves. There was less industrialization in 1910, less people, less pollution, yet the warming trend began then. Sorry, but that's a dog that just won't hunt.
Oh, as for Al Gore' s book. Why should I read the writings of a man that I do not trust, do not like, and who has a reputation as opertunistic liar? Sorry. If someone with a bit more credibility had written such a book (I.E. a non-politician), then I MIGHT be more inclined to read it.
