PCs Always Cost More, Deal With It 3346PCs Always Cost More, Deal With It 3349 i just updated right now- turns out bug's fixed. not nearly as nice... yup, but the photos are individually available. that's a plus over a quicktime movie. useless to you, does not useless make... Snit hey snit, since you think pcs always cost more (or at least in 'most cases'), let's see what you can come up with, or tell me what i'm missing when i find a comparable system for much less. i'm looking for a new notebook right now- something similar in specs to a macbook mb pro. i want a core duo system, 512 mb ram, dvd burner. i also prefer a higher resolution screen, and a discrete graphics card if it's not too pricey. although i don't lug my laptop around much, i don't want something that's too heavy, a 5-6 lb laptop (right in the mac macbook pro line) should be fine. my thoughts are that a dell e1405 or e1505 are MUCH better deals that the macbook and macbook pro. i can even get a core *2* duo and come in much cheaper. software isn't a big deal, as i can get ms office for either platform for $20 through work, i prefer picasa to iphoto, and itunes runs on both. i use development tools that are fine on both os x and windows, and i would have no use for garageband. i've never used frontrow, but all indications are that xp media center is much more powerful, and quite good in general. you can add the price of a camera if you want, but it's something i actually prefer not to have on the computer (limits where i can bring it at work). so am i missing anything in my comparison of 'comparable machines' that i think the mac is very much not even close to a better deal?
PCs Always Cost More, Deal With It 3347 and posting other comparisons generates consensus and learning? doubt it... ;D primarily the import functions and viewing options- the options available to import subsets of files, specify watch folders...
