RIP Steve Wozniak &A#JD1Tg!d8
Living people are commonly reported as dead. My favorite was the guy who played Captain Kangaroo. I heard of him being dead on at least five occasions. When he finally did die, the report was met with skepticism. These days the favorite 'undead' (my term) celebrity is Abe Vigoda. He played Fish on the old TV show 'Barney Miller' and is a regular on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. Reports of his rest are so popular that you can obtain and install a 'widget', which works with Apple's Dashboard or Konfabulator (now owned and renamed to something or other by Yahoo), that will daily check a server that keeps track of Vigota's health. The general address for this server is: If they were alive today... 33HumfHSaKlA~jG9gd If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who's on First?" might have turned out something like... And here is what the server says about Steve Wozniak: The smiley face on his page means Steve is still alive. As reported earlier in this thread, the breastle of the page reporting his rest says that this is a hoax: "RIP Steve Wozniak (No, not really)". The point of the hoax escapes me. But the picture of Steve is fun!
-- Fortune Magazine, 11-29-05: What's your computer setup today? Frederick Brooks: I happily use a Macintosh. It's not been equalled for ease of use, and I want my computer to be a tool, not a challenge. Frederick Brooks is the author of 'The Mythical Man Month'. He spearheaded the movement to modernize computer software engineering in 1975
