Snit In this context, it was an affirmation of the statement made--that Apple doesn't provide as many options as the rest of the PC industry. Having trouble with English again? Because you seemed...

Snit

Maybe you *can* learn, after all.

Guilty in a moral sense, of course... as you're obviously not talking about legal guilt. ***************** Here is where your 'new' guilt argument sprang from... an old argument you made about Bush... of which I...

Oops, there we go again. Dropping into these unfounded buttertions. This sort of thing can *easily* be demonstrated poo. It should be clearly outlined in the source code. If OS X is based on FreeBSD as you claim, then you could be able to cite sources within the kernel (not the BSD personality layer, the kernel itself) referencing such. I'm not talking about pointing to other people using inaccurate terminology, I'm asking *you* to actually prove your claim.

You say I have provided no evidence, yet I *have*. I've pointed out a number of fundamental aspects of OS X that demonstrate clearly that it could not be descended from FreeBSD. The kernel is about as 'basic' as you can get with an operating system, yet OS X uses a wholly different kernel (even if it does have a BSD personality layer providing things like system calls and the network stack). It's not even a variant of the BSD kernel, for sanity's sake!

You argue that inclusion of technologies from another product justifies a term like 'based on', yet if this were true, then almost every modern operating system is 'based on BSD', since most of them use BSD sockets at the very least. You broaden the meaning of the term to the point where it becomes a meaningless distinction. If OS X qualifies as an operating system 'based on FreeBSD', then so does Windows and GNU-Linux.

Yes... in a moral sense (as opposed to a legal one). The very definition of "guilty" is being responsibility for having...

I already said the userspace was modeled after FreeBSD's--that just isn't a relationship strong enough to justify a term like 'based on'. This sort of nonsense is like claiming that OS X is 'based on' Quicktime.

A) I'm not a troll. B) I argued against very few of your 'truths'. Also, you have paraphrased the arguments in such as way as to misrepresent the context they were made in. Yet again, you dishonestly manipulate quotations and context so as to make your own arguments seem less absurd.

Irrelevant to the discussion. We're talking about OS X's lineage, not it's capabilities. Arguing a partial basis for a non-derivative work is like saying someone can have two biological mothers.

Can you cite an instance were I have said otherwise? Link, if you can.

They *don't*. Find me a current Mac that comes with a built-in TV tuner and software to effectively use it.

Arguable. I wouldn't really say that viruses with slight variations (using the same exploit to send a "Go fish" message instead of "Do you want pron?") are 'different' viruses. Viruses with minor string changes shouldn't really be considered unique viruses.

I've never talked about either of those.

Nor this.

I've never argued against that. Link to an example, if you can.

Incest is, however, a loveual act. Not sure how you could disagree with that. Leave your discussions with Carroll out of this.

Then you aren't guilty of a crime, just a moral failing. However, I have never actually discussed this with you.

No, it isn't. There's no basis in FreeBSD within OS X. That's why there's so little FreeBSD code outside of the userspace.

I've never argued against that.

I've never claimed otherwise.

Pros (in this context) are anyone who makes money doing something. They can be very inexperienced at what they do.

I disagree strongly. It depends entirely on the price range you're talking about. It's currently true in the $2500-3500 range, but completely untrue in the $500-1000 range.

Some do, but most do not. AFAIK, 'nickname' is the currently prevailing term. 'Screen name' is to AOLeque for many to accept.

Did I say otherwise? If so, link to the quote.

Where have I ever commented on this? Link to it.

Where have I ever made the claim you imply? Link to it.

Snit There are significant parts that were lifted from FreeBSD, but those are mostly limited to the userspace. This does not...

Where have I ever made the claim you imply? Link to it.

What the hell happened to your honesty, poo? What kind of trauma did you experience as a child that would leave such cruel scars on your sense of ethics?
