Sorry this works better 1125Sorry this works better 1127 You probabaly wouldn't benefit from switching at all, and likely wouldn't like the Mac if you did - being a long-time Windows user. Even though Macs are much more intuitive, much more productive than Windows... Mitch Sorry this works better 1128 Oh, I don't buttume that. In fact, much of the time it seems even the trolls have a point or some knowledge to contribute. I... Fallacy! The flaw is in your interpretation of his reasoning, not in his reasoning. The number does NOT have to be exact - because in reality there are factors which have not been accounted for. The time when "Macs were popular" was before the internet. Enough said. I don't believe it's a major factor but it could well be a minor one. Sorry this works better 1126 I could only refer to the factors he did account for. Introduce some other factors, and we can discuss how they would affect the presence of malware. Nothing... The point is that you don't have a "better OS". You are only safe because your platform is different, not because it's better. Hardly overstated. Email worms propagate exponentially. In case you don't understand, let me demonstrate. Let's buttume that the "average" person's contact list has 20 people: 2 Mac users and 18 PC users. That's a very generous ratio of Mac users to PC users by the way (9:1 in my example compared to 19:1 in the real world). Let's also buttume that everybody's contacts are unique and that nobody has virus protection. Now imagine a worm which affects only PC's and a worm which affects only Macs begin to spread at the same time. From the points of origin, 2 Mac users and 18 PC users are hit. From there, 4 Mac users and 324 PC users are hit. From there, 8 Mac users are hit and 6,000 PC users are hit. From there, 16 Mac users are hit and 105,000 PC users are hit. From there, 32 Mac users are hit and 1,880,000 PC users are hit. So by the numbers, it is advantageous in the extreme to attack PC users instead of Mac users. See above. - NRen2k5
